Berlin Nightlife & Club Culture

Berlin is, by common consent, the club capital of the world. Its venues, many in former power stations, warehouses, and Wall-era ruins, run from Friday night to Monday morning with no closing times, world-class sound, strict no-photo door policies, and a fierce protectiveness of the dancefloor. This is where the city's reputation is made. Dress dark, come relaxed, and never photograph inside.

FAQ

How do I get into Berghain?
There is no guaranteed formula, but go late and sober-seeming, in a small group (1-2 is best), dress dark and minimal, keep your phone away in the queue, and stay calm and quiet. Rejection is common and not personal, have a backup club in mind.
What time do Berlin clubs open?
Late. Most clubs do not get going until well after midnight, and the peak is roughly 3-6am. Many run continuously through Sunday, so arriving Sunday morning or afternoon is a genuine and quieter option.
